The Main lake was constructed in 1990 by the current owner and fisherman Jason Jopson, stocking the lake with carp, pike and silver fish. The lake was constructed for the sole use of Jason (or so he thought), he then allowed his friends and family to fish the lake and it soon became a day ticket water. After 10 years the lake was drained and all the silver fish were removed and spread between the match lakes and the carp that remained in the lake were 15lb and up.
The cats were introduced in 1994 as scavengers to clean up excessive bait and control silver fish, they have been extremely successful in the lake and has produced two 80lbers in 2012, along with a number of 60's and 70's. We are expecting them to be reaching 100lb by next year.
There are over 250 carp in the main lake with a large head of doubles (15lb+) with approximately 80 - 20's,
20 -30's and 2 -40's. The lake was doubled in size in 2010 and this has allowed the fish to grow at an alarming rate, 25 - 20's were removed from the private lake and have ploughed on the weight becoming early 30's already. So exciting times ahead for 2013.
